Homemade Cinnamon Rolls

Good Sunday Morning! :)

Bill and I had drooled over these rolls Paula Dean was making on the FoodNetwork. I told him I would make them one day.  I've made these several times now.  Each and every time they turn out so good!  These rolls are sooooo rich and yummy!  A great tip to cut the log of dough for each cinnamon roll is to take a piece of thread, slide it under the log to where you want to cut, bring it up and criss-cross it over the top and pull....perfectly sliced rolls. :)

I hope your having a wonderful Labor Day Weekend.  We are having thunderstorms right now.  Something Upstate New York certainly didn't need after Irene rolled through here.

Join me? :)  Although you best hurry Bill is making quick work of these. ;)

Please excuse the slightly blurry photo.  I should of checked my shots before diving into my cinnamon roll and hazelnut coffee. ;)

Plates and cups from 222 Fifth, pattern Gabrielle.  I picked these up at TJMaxx for a song. :)  Metal and red stone napkin ring given to me by Bill's Mom before she passed.  I love the crocheted placemat!  I picked up a dozen of them on Ebay for $28 which I thought was a fantastic price.  I'd never have the patience to make one of them let alone twelve. ;)

Do you smell that?

Inhale deeply and maybe you'll smell what I am smelling in our home! What's one to do on a chilly Saturday morning?  Bake bread to go along with that grilled steak you'll be having later in the day of course! ;)

My morning started out with getting around to take Fritz, our dog, to the vet for his shots.  Thinking ahead to dinner and steaks on the grill I thought some homemade bread sounded like it would be good with it.  Well since I woke up at 3:30 this morning and couldn't get back to sleep my energy level was low.  So I decided to make "Simple Crusty No Knead Bread".  from the book “Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day,” by Jeff Hertzberg and Zoë François

You can view the video below, it will show you how easy it is to make this bread.  It is so SIMPLE.  We love this bread.  I use the recipe to make small buns with also.  YUM!

A simple Google will provide you with the recipe.  I highly recommend buying the book.  There are so many good recipes in it.  I purchased the cookbook Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day: the Discovery That Revolutionizes Home Baking from Alibris for $16.75 (normally $27.95 new). This was being listed as “Like New” condition. I figured once I got it in my kitchen once it would be ‘used’ anyways ;) I’ve ordered used books before from Alibris and have always received excellent books.  And as always it came in excellent condition.

Our bread.....soon to be part of our dinner. ;)

I have found that the crust will soften a tad when cooled.  I just pop the loaf back in the oven for a few minutes on low heat to crisp it up.

I'm ready for dinner! ;)
