Mom's Beautiful Peonies

My Mom passed away two years tomorrow.  It seems like only yesterday and it seems like forever since I've talked and laughed with her on the phone (we lived in different states).   This year her date of passing falls one day before Mother's Day.  I've been going through my stash of old pictures of her and her home we sold after she passed.  I have always loved her peonies that lined her driveway.  Below are photos of her peonies.  They were taken within a week or so after her passing.  They were absolutely beautiful that year.  I'm sure she was looking down and smiling at her beautiful flowers.  I've since started a row  of peonies beside my driveway.  This year it looks like I may get a few blooms.

I have no idea of the varieties of the peonies.  There are several different types.  I had asked Mom previously the varieties of the peonies she had...she no longer remembered their names.

I hope you enjoy the photos and have a wonderful Mother's Day this Sunday.

Enjoy.....

Love and miss you Mom.....

Your Mother is Always With You – Anonymous
Your mother is always with you...
She's the whisper of the leaves
as you walk down the street.
She's the smell of bleach in
your freshly laundered socks.
She's the cool hand on your
brow when you're not well.
Your mother lives inside
your laughter. She's crystallized
in every tear drop...
She's the place you came from,
your first home.. She's the map you
follow with every step that you take.
She's your first love and your first heart
break....and nothing on earth can separate you.
Not time, Not space...
Not even death....
will ever separate you
from your mother....
You carry her inside of you....

  1. Kim, Thank you for sharing your mother's peonies with us. It looks like she had a green thumb . . .I'm sure that you inherited it and that your peonies will be just as lovely. I was blessed to have had my mother for 60 years. Which was pretty fantastic being that she was 40 when I was born. My mother passed one day short of her 100th birthday. All her children and many of her grandchild flew in to celebrate. She was looking so forward to her party, that we went a head and had it. I was honored to read her birthday card from President Bush, at her party. She would have been beaming. Your poem was so true, because once in a while I'll say something, and I can hear the very same words coming from Mom. I also get surprised sometimes when I look in the mirror and Mom is looking back at me. I do hope that your Mother's Day is filled with family, love and wonderful memories. Connie :) P.S. Thank you for following my blog, I truly appreciate it.

    1. Thank you for sharing with me about your Mom. I'm so sorry she's passed on. I too know I hear my Mom many times in what I say. I also as I'm getting older look in the mirror and see Mom's eyes looking back at me. Have a wonderful day today Connie. :)
